Santa's Sleigh

I suppose you have been wondering what I was sketching with the new Wacom Inkling.
It was some concepts for an image for this years Flexitec's Christmas card.Titled"look what the advanced concept elves have given me this year".
Looks pretty neat but the engine is a north pole designed coal burning job.

Inkling ...Pencil sketch..WOW

W0W LOOK WHAT I FOUND when you import your Inkling Biro sketch into Alias Sketchbook Designer it will open it as if it was done with a pencil, light soft lines and heavy dark lines. You can continue the sketch or export it as a tiff file into Sketchbook pro

RMIT student designs the future

RMIT University student Ryan Fonceca received some very positive comments from Tony Stolfo head of holden design and Guy Burgoyne head of holden advanced design while meeting with Myself and Ryan at the RMIT University Industrial Design final year exhibition.

Future thinking - RMIT Graduate on the move into industry.

Ryan Fonceca presented his Concept for single person transport for the future at the RMIT University Industrial Design Final graduation exhibition.
His work presentation consisted of concept sketches, finished concept renderings, Autodesk Alias surface models and final high res Alias Showcase animated images.

Wacom Inkling first test

It just keeps getting better and better.Wacom have given us another tool for our digital studios but this one brings us back to basics we can now digitally capture our doodles or sketches that we might do on a piece of paper or sketchpad in front of the telly or in my case sitting on top of a mountain far away from anyone.
the sketch I did in the RMIT University wacom lab was on a piece of A3 photocopy paper with the sensor attached to the top.I sketched with my normal light hand and I was impressed to see how the pressure sensitivity of the pen even picked up my very light lines. The ability to draw in layers was also a bonus and as you can see I was the able to import my sketch into my favourite Alias sketchbook.By the way the sketch was an idea for a concept for a new Santa's sleigh for a Christmas card image I will post some more demos later.

Back to the Future

I'm good with colours and still have vivid memory's of the orange metallic paint finish on the Holden Hurricane concept car that sat down in engineering at Fishermans Bend during my time there as a young automotive designer. The team at Holden have restored the concept car and the paint color is spot on. I was rapped to be invited along with Ian Wong by Tony Stolfo Design Director GM Australia to view the Hurricane yesterday for the first time in over thirty years. The Hurricane represents the advanced thinking that automotive designers provide through future concept models and recent projects like the EN-V showcase the capability of the team at GM in Port Melbourne.

Alias training at Delinate

Myself Ryan Fonceca and Ian Wong spent a few days training and observing demos in Alias at Delineate thanks to Autodesk. It was invaluable working with Chris Blundell changing the surfaces on a digital model just like a designer and modeller would do on a clay model.Playing with Alias Showcase on the finished model was inspiring. Thanks also to Rob Veitch at Delineate. I will post more of Ryans final pre major work on his single person transport after his final exhibition this wed evening at RMIT University.
