Concept Design Workshop
The Concept Design Workshop is an international digital art event aimed at students and industry professionals that are interested in concept art for Video Games and Movies, Matte painting, Illustration and Design. After the sellout success at the Adelaide event in May 2011 and Melbourne Jan 2012, they are currently organizing the next workshop for Sydney July 2-7 2012. They also have an event lined up for Wellington, NZ in September 3-8 2012. They have managed to organize some awesome instructors for these events and it is a really unique opportunity for students and industry to see these artists working LIVE. Please check out www.conceptdesignworkshop.com for all the information about the workshop.
First snow
The first snow on Mt Buller which we overlook from our farm in the high country inspired me to add some to one of my Sketchbook pro sketches

Well done
Because the work was so good I decided to award a prize for the best camera concept sketch, showing their ability to explore forms and surface, which then caused a headache because there was so many excellent concept sketches so after consulting a few of my fellow lectures I awarded the prize to Patrick Goslar. Patrick recieved a special artists proof of one of my limited edition art prints "sandcastles" which was part of my very succesful beach art series
New Digital SLR Camera Concepts
Again after completing the camera tutorial to a high standard I asked my first year RMIT coms students to sketch their own design concepts for a DSLR camera . In the Sketchbook pro tutorial they learned to show simple forms, cylinders and lens reflections as well as make and design their own brushes for the lense grip. Then they were able to explore their own design sketches this is just a selection.

Sketchbook pro.
I still find Sketchbook pro the fastest and easiest way to sketch. For speed sketching you can't beat it here is another speed sketch concept for the nullabor racers this one is a streamliner based roughly on Donald Campbell's bluebird
