It was very refreshing to see some very creative concepts for Portable Assisted Mobility Devices, this is just some shots of their presentations and it was great to see some creative sketching

So cool to be at Art Center Pasadena for the PACE forum couldn't wait to look around ......first thing I found was some entertainment design students work.

 Last night Ian Wong and Bernie Walsh joined legendary visual futurist Syd Mead and Roger Servick for a meal whilst in Pasadena.
Syd picked us up at our hotel in his classic Chrysler Imperial le baron. It was a magic night

Cafe racer concept speed sketch

For my latest speed sketch demo I have used the old café racers as inspiration as you can see I started with a 2 minute mono tone sketch for my concept. Then worked my way through the layers and finished my concept with some very quick pencil sketch lines over the top. then once you have a design it's easy to evolve the design and create a fresh concept based on your first. Add a new background and a model and you have a new image

Due to the weekend workshop I didn't get to do a speed sketch but I did get to finish off this low rider form sketch David and I were working on Sunday afternoon........so here is the finished sketch David for your reference. For my Sunday speed sketch I did this on my Samsung PC slate the theme was from the Auto Industry Design Night where they had to sketch motorbikes so I thought a café racer would be cool

Automotive Industry Designers Night

What a great night at the 2nd Auto Industry Design Night held at  Gasolina, South Warf Melbourne.
left Ryan Fonceca, Rob Veitch Bernie walsh and Darren Booth from Flexitech major sponsor. Its the only chance that designers from different Car design studios get together and last night they organised a sketch off for any one who wanted to show their concept skills. The night was organised by Dave Kaylor

Let there be SOUND

Today my life changed thanks to Dirk de Moore- Audiologist from the Bendigo Hearing Clinic when he placed these tiny things in my ears. I didn’t know the indicators on my car actually made a clicking sound, I will also need to buy an oil can….. didn’t know the world was full of so many squeaking things.

I went to see Dirk after my wife Ree made an appointment…I didn’t realise my hearing was so bad.

So now I’m the proud owner of 2 Phonak Audeo Q70’s So to test them out we went to a noisy Italian restaurant for lunch, and as well as noticing the toilet door needed oil I heard what the young lady down the back ordered for lunch!

Talent needs only a pen and paper...

A pencil, pens, markers, tablet, high-quality paper, or just a napkin in a restaurant... sketching is possible with anything and anywhere and the very best sometimes need only a few quick strokes on paper from which emerge impressive lines of a new model. Brilliant design sketches show automotive design in its purest form and has developed into nearly an independent artistic discipline......... How true, that's why I love to sketch

Sunday afternoon speed sketch

This Sunday afternoon speed sketch with Sketchbook pro is a very quick 15 min exercise in free flowing lines. Fish reference from my China trip of the many golden carp in ponds..........and my new seal.

Chinese traditional seal

 

I now have my own personal Chinese seal made for me by Zhang Minghua a master seal stone cutter and my Chinese translation is Wo Bo ni. He is the Father of one of my very good students from Southeast University- Monash University joint masters course Zhang Xing.

Zhang Minghua graduated from China Central Radio & amp TV University in 1988, and was major in Chinese Linguistics and Literature. He is now a member of Jiangdong Society of Seal Arts and Jinquan Society of Seal Arts. He participated in seal cutting classes of Correspondence Department of Shanghai Youth Daily in 1984, and his works received a honorable mention.

His works were selected in the Beauty of Environment of Motherland Fine arts, Calligraphy, and Seal cutting Exhibition in National Art Museum of China in 1985.

He  has participated in exhibition of paintings and calligraphy held by Anhui Radio and TV University in 1986, and won the second prize.

His works were exhibited in Kurume Friendship Art Museum in Hefei and selected in the art, calligraphy, and photography works exhibition for the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Maanshan Iron & amp Steel Co in 1998.
From 1984, his works have been published in many newspapers and magazines and He has made
stones for the famous artist Jiang Zhengyi.
