Back in Suzhou China teaching at the joint Monash and South East University Double masters in Industrial Design. These are a few images of the class demos in concept sketching using Sketchbook 7 on Wacom Cintiqs. And my new group of enthusiastic students from all over China

Sketchbook pro Hero Challenge

 Still trying to improve my character concept sketching so I challenged myself and had a go at the Terryl Whitlatch Hero challenge. Check it out on deviantART.com : http://fav.me/d8eg87t  Its always good to take yourself out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself with something different this months hero challenge on deviant arts sketchbook site was to pick 2 totally different animals and morph them together to make the perfect pet.
I chose an elephant crossed with an emu the big flightless bird from Australia and called it an Emunt after a few very quick speed sketches to get the feel of the 2 creatures I ended up with the above image which was also picked up and posted on the sketchbook Facebook page........ So how about challenging yourself to some of these challengers or make up your own...CHEERS

Merry Christmas Concept

Merry Christmas to all my followers sorry I haven't posted much lately, I've been busy in my new position as Lead Creative Concept Designer  for Cobalt Niche Design group. They are a product design Group who have also done a lot of transport design projects, they are responsible for the latest trams running around the streets of Melbourne Australia. This Image was a bit of fun showing that they can tackle any clients challenge

China Creative Design Week Fuzhou 2014

This week I had the honour of being invited to give a design presentation representing Cobalt Niche Design Group on Innovation in Creative Design in my new role as Conceptual Design Manager.
This years Forum combined designnova and was held in Fuzhou China.

New Sketchbook pro 7 perspective tool speed sketch tutorial on Wacom Companion

 As you can see the perspective tool in the new Sketchbook 7 Lets you do really cool perspective sketching. So if your perspective skills are not so good there is no excuse now for you to create perfect perspective sketches. This speed sketch was done as a class demo on a Wacom Companion the perfect companion for Sketchbook pro 7 ( SORRY FOR THE PUN ).

The Digital Design Laboratory features 30 Wacom Cintiq 22HD drawing tablets with a dual screen The latest digital design laboratory for industrial design in China was on display this week as the Southeast University-Monash University Joint Graduate School (Suzhou) graduated its first students with double masters degrees. The President of Southeast Univerisity Professor Hong Li and the Vice Chancellor and President of Monash University Professor Ed Byrne visited the Digital Design Laboratory of the Master of Industrial Design program at the Southeast University-Monash University Joint Graduate School (Suzhou) during celebrations

Sketchbook pro Symmetry concept sketch

Work in progress..... thought I would get back into some automotive work and use this directional control to demonstrate  the symmetry tool in sketchbook and also show some wood metal and leather textures ....I will follow this one up with a demo tutorial.

Thought I would practice my character faces and the mirror tool in this sketchbook pro speed sketch. Just made it up as I went along She is trying out some high tech headphones.... took about an hour from start to finish

Digital sketching workshop Monterrey Mexico

Day 5, I decided to have some fun and use the skills they had learnt in sketchbook pro.
Designer fruit,  imagine a fruit using stem cell technology and combining  2 of them thinking of shape colour texture and of course taste.... see if you can guess what we got up to
