Cody's first digital sketch Samsung galaxy
I gave my grandson Cody his first digital sketch lesson today and he is not one yet.
"Can I have a go Par" What do you think Cody used my Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 with Sketchbook pro Android version for tablets similar to the mobile version, a good program for beginners.

Steampunk Sketchbook pro 6
While playing with the new Wacom Companion using Sketchbook pro 6 I thought I would revisit my Nullarbor slug which has already evolved from the original Santa's coal burning slug concept built to get round the North pole. Inspired by these Steampunk pens that was posted by one of my many facebook Drawon followers and the huge popularity of this 19th century British Victorian or American " wild west" Post apocalyptic future theme, during which steam power has regained mainstream use.
Any way it's lots of fun so go ahead be inspired and create something different

Australian America's cup yacht concept
Had another go at the Australian AC concept it would be nice to see the beauty and the skill of flying a kite as well the format is loosely based on the Australian 18 foot skiffs. any way it would be nice to see it up and foiling in its delta hull form like our new Oshunpro concepts.........the speed sketch was started on the Wacom Campanion and finished on my larger Cintiq using sketchbook pro 6.3...my eyes got sore couldn't see the detail...maybe need new glasses.....any way enjoy what could be.

new concept for Australian America's cup yacht
Thought I would propose a yacht concept for the next America's cup contest. As much as I really enjoy the current cat concepts it would be nice to see the advanced technology of wing sails and the ability to foil developed on a mono hull like the old Americas cup rules. You could shorten the mast and develop a different foot print for the forward sails. You could then develop out riggers like the Oshunpro concept to create better stability without the need for heavy keels and the platform to develop foiling. maybe the Australians can design such a yacht get a sportswear company like Nike who wants to get into yachting gear and Autodesk who is at the forefront of new technology and has the programs that could create such a craft. Anyway it is always nice to create something that does not exist............YET

Sydney Hobart yacht concepts
The 100 ft Wild Oats is the race favourite equipped with two new foils as well as its canting keel and the redesigned Wild thing which was ruled out of last years race after a major design change. But this years Sydney Hobart could be the battle of the black hulls.
the 80 ft Bolin design Beau Gest and the 60 ft Carkeek design Ichi Ban two brand new super light racers. Good luck and safe sailing to all the entrants

Wacom Companion test demo Apple or Samsung e bike
Wacom Australia have kindly given me one of their Cintiq companions for an extended evaluation. As you have seen I regularly use my Samsung PC for sketching while mobile. Well here goes loaded sketchbook pro 6........for my first sketch I have revisited my idea of a Samsung or Apple electric bike concept, these two giants may inspire the way for new consumer lifestyle products, but while evolving the concept I though it needed a new direction so I thought of the old penny farthing which was front wheel drive, so what do you think. I will follow up with more posts on what I think of the companion, so far I'm enjoying the larger canvas and the feel of the pen.

I was honoured to have my work selected to be showcased in the CAVE art collection at the first CAVE conference. The committee said the collection is aiming to highlight beautiful, imaginative creations, so we'll be selecting pieces by artists that are visually interesting, well executed, and fit into the "Explore. Spring colour hues...tutorial
Spring is here and a good time to get outside and look at colour, photograph it put the image into sketchbook and use the pick tool to create new colour hue pallets for up and coming concept sketches or fine art pieces
Open your eyes and look at colour in nature see the diversity and juxtaposition of real colour....Nature doesn't get it wrong.
Gazanias I spotted on the road to the farm this morning.

Cintiq Companion Demo
Today at Monash Art Design and Architecture - MADA. Vaughan Stott, John Warwicker, Ned Culic, Bernie Walsh and Tony Stolfo demo the Wacom Cintiq Companion All were very impressed.
I took the Cintiq Companion out side for a test run the HD Screen was very clear and had very little reflection, the slightly matt surface of the Cintiq was better to sketch on than my Samsung Smart PC slate.
Ian Wong Bernie Walsh Vaughan Stott from Wacom trailing the Cintiq Companion at MADA
The 13 inch screen was like drawing on an A3 sketch pad made my 11inch Samsung look tiny
