While I was at Art Center Collage of Design for the Annual PACE Forum I was privileged to be asked to demo digital sketching with Sketchbook Pro to the Transport Grad Students.

So cool to be at Art Center Pasadena for the PACE forum couldn't wait to look around ......first thing I found was some entertainment design students work.

 Last night Ian Wong and Bernie Walsh joined legendary visual futurist Syd Mead and Roger Servick for a meal whilst in Pasadena.
Syd picked us up at our hotel in his classic Chrysler Imperial le baron. It was a magic night

Cafe racer concept speed sketch

For my latest speed sketch demo I have used the old café racers as inspiration as you can see I started with a 2 minute mono tone sketch for my concept. Then worked my way through the layers and finished my concept with some very quick pencil sketch lines over the top. then once you have a design it's easy to evolve the design and create a fresh concept based on your first. Add a new background and a model and you have a new image

Due to the weekend workshop I didn't get to do a speed sketch but I did get to finish off this low rider form sketch David and I were working on Sunday afternoon........so here is the finished sketch David for your reference. What a great 2 days of sketching catching up with old colleagues lots of note taking and lots and lots of sketching even a bit of prismacolour on white paper just to loosen up  and try some speed sketching skills

For my Sunday speed sketch I did this on my Samsung PC slate the theme was from the Auto Industry Design Night where they had to sketch motorbikes so I thought a café racer would be cool

Automotive Industry Designers Night

What a great night at the 2nd Auto Industry Design Night held at  Gasolina, South Warf Melbourne.
left Ryan Fonceca, Rob Veitch Bernie walsh and Darren Booth from Flexitech major sponsor. Its the only chance that designers from different Car design studios get together and last night they organised a sketch off for any one who wanted to show their concept skills. The night was organised by Dave Kaylor

Let there be SOUND

Today my life changed thanks to Dirk de Moore- Audiologist from the Bendigo Hearing Clinic when he placed these tiny things in my ears. I didn’t know the indicators on my car actually made a clicking sound, I will also need to buy an oil can….. didn’t know the world was full of so many squeaking things.

I went to see Dirk after my wife Ree made an appointment…I didn’t realise my hearing was so bad.

So now I’m the proud owner of 2 Phonak Audeo Q70’s So to test them out we went to a noisy Italian restaurant for lunch, and as well as noticing the toilet door needed oil I heard what the young lady down the back ordered for lunch!
